Solar Powered Cellphone

Cellphone users could soon be using solar energy to charge there handsets. Japan's second biggest wireless carrier, KDDI Corp said it will start selling a waterproof, solar-powered cellphone in June. The handset is made by Sharp.

A 10 minute solar charge will provide enough charge for a one-minute call or can power the handset in standby mode for 120 minutes.
The yet to be priced cellphone will be sold in Japan from June. Samsung Electronics has also introduced solar-powered mobile phone in February but has not said when the handsets will go on sale.
