Filipino Artist Using Garlic for Painting

A young artist Mark Libunao from Manila(Philippines) uses garlic oil to create his paintings.
Mark Libunao the 23 year old said using garlic the indispensable cooking ingredient, for his paintings came to him while he was working at his family's small restaurant.
"I fry the garlic in oil just like you would fry it for seasoning. Then I place it in a blender. After blending, I extract the oil, and I use that oil in my paintings."
"We had a small restaurant selling short orders in Guimba, Nueva Ecija where I would sometimes help out. One day, I noticed the garlic and asked myself, 'Why don't I try using this to paint?' as I saw the potential of its brown color. That's when I started to experiment."

It takes Mark a whole day just to prepare a small amount of the rust colored paint. The painting process is quite long as each layer has to dry before the other layer is applied, or else the garlic oil will smudge. Artist Mark Libunao claims his paintings have a shelf life of up to 50 years if framed properly.
How expensive- Libunao's garlic works are on sale for 400 to 800 U.S. dollars a piece.
